The first thing that comes to mind when summer arrives is… Beach Trip. In fact weeks before school lets out, I’m plotting and scheming, figuring out how to maximize our summer by being at the beach as much as humanly possible.. Can you relate?
We just recently returned from another wonderful family vacation at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, located in Miramar Beach, Florida. With 2,400 acres to explore, there is something to do for every member of your family. Choose from golf for every level of play, tennis, water sports, marina, fitness center, spa, biking and walking trails, kayaking and paddle boarding. If you’re more prone to beach bumming, (my speed, really.) you can get your space set up and pretty much stay there all day, watching your kids dig ginormous holes in the sand. Rental Chair and Umbrella service is available as well as food and drink huts.. In case you’re into enjoying an adult beverage with your toes in the sand. Pina Colada, Anyone?
Another huge perk, if you do want to enjoy a cocktail while relaxing each day on the beach or by the pool, but you don’t want to worry about driving to dinner, is a shuttle service provided for resort guests. When we checked in I downloaded the Sandestin app and was able to track the shuttles in real time so our wait time to take a shuttle around the property was never more than 5 minutes.

We always find ourselves spending a large amount of our time each night at Baytowne Wharf, exploring all of the kid friendly fun they have there. From Arcades and a playground to a carousel and zip-lining, want some yummy desserts like ice cream and homemade candies? They have that too. There is a great variety of shopping and restaurants with delicious food, some offering live music on the bay, so you can see the beautiful sunset.
On this recent trip we stayed at Luau. Located across the street from The Beach House restaurant and pool deck and just a short stroll from Sandestin’s world-renowned Destin beaches, Luau combines elegance and simplicity with its Asian-inspired feel. Guest rooms are fully furnished with a kitchenette (studios) or full kitchen, dining and living areas. There are units with golf cart rentals available at this complex. The pool was amazing and when my kids weren’t digging holes in the sand, they were begging for some pool time.
The only disappointing thing about these trips to Sandestin is that they have to end. Each trip we discover and experience a little more that the resort has to offer, which keeps us coming back for more!
