The much-anticipated Cahaba River Walk, off Overton Road and River Run Road is set to open to the public this Friday, April 10th. Formerly, Cahaba River Park, the improvements to the area have been in the works for a couple of years.
The short walking trail runs right along the river with stone steps that allow you to walk right up to the waters edge. Plenty of shade and a paved path make this a great place for a stroll.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. this Friday, and is a family friendly event. Several city leaders are expected to address the public, and refreshments will be available.
Even if you can’t make it to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, put this on your list of places to check out when you’re looking to get outdoors this spring and summer!
Angie,
Hey, in “runs right a long” it should be one word – “along”.
Also, can you define “family friendly”? That description always seems so vague to me. Bouncies and no booze?
Many thanks,
Eric
Family friendly in that they scheduled the event for after school to encourage “family attendance.” They weren’t specific about any activities other than the ribbon cutting, and refreshments.
