The True Story of the Three Little Pigs

He huffed. He puffed. And now he wants a fair trial.

Birmingham Children’s Theatre is bringing The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs to its MainStage this fall — a high-energy musical that turns the classic fairy tale completely on its head.

What the Show Is About

Based on the beloved picture book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, the show puts the Wolf on trial for destroying all three pigs’ homes. Here’s the twist: the prosecutor, the judge, and every witness are also pigs, which makes “Piggsylvania’s Trial of the Century” anything but fair. As the case unfolds, audiences get a funny, fast-moving look at perspective, persuasion, and the stories we choose to believe.

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs is a great show,” said Director Bethe Ensey. “It’s fun, the music is catchy, and the audience gets to determine the wolf’s innocence or guilt. Is he big and bad, or… maybe… just a neighbor with a head cold trying to borrow sugar to bake a cake? You might think you know the real story, but let us tell you the true story, and then you can decide.”

Every trial has two sides. This one has three pigs and one big bad wolf — and you’re the jury. The verdict is in your hands.
