All of my life I’ve been vacationing on the white sandy beaches of the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. We’ve stayed in houses, condos, hotels and some very sketchy little motels that I’m still trying to wipe from my memory.
Just a few weeks ago my family had the pleasure of staying at the Beachside Condominiums at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. To sum up our trip in 1 word. Perfect.
What we loved most about this resort, being a family of 5, was that we could check in, park our car and not have to leave again if we didn’t want to. Bike Rentals and a shuttle service made this very doable. When we checked in I downloaded the Sandestin app and was able to track the shuttles in real time so our wait time to take a shuttle around the property was never more than 5 minutes.
With 2,400 acres to explore, there is something for everyone in the family. We spent a large amount of our time each night at Baytowne Wharf, exploring all of the kid friendly fun they have there. From Arcades and a playground to a carousel and zip-lining, to ice cream and candy shops. There is a great variety of shopping and restaurants with delicious food, some offering live music on the bay, so you can see the beautiful sunset.
We are very much a “park it on the beach and enjoy the ocean view” kind of family, but if getting a rental chair and umbrella with bar service isn’t your speed (and I’m not judging) there are lots of options for fun. Choose from golf for every level of play, tennis, water sports, marina, fitness center, spa, biking and walking trails, kayaking and paddle boarding. So much to do, so little time, really.
Our condo was Beachside, but SanDestin also offers accommodations Bayside, Lakeside, and in The Village, if being on the beach isn’t your thing (again, not judging.)
This was an amazing trip for our family, it was a little bit of everything we wanted in our beach trip for this year. All topped off with a staff that was helpful and accommodating with everything we needed.
