OCTOBER EVENTS IN BIRMINGHAM

Native American Festival

Traditional dances, listen to stories and music, and support local and Native American businesses at an ancient city on the Black Warrior River.

When: Wednesday October 4th – Saturday October 7th | Wednesday and Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Where: Moundville Archaeological Park
Price: Admission is $10 per person. Children 5 years old and under are free.

Greek Food Festival

Birmingham’s oldest and most anticipated cultural event that offers an abundance of delicious Greek cuisine.

When: Thursday October 5th – Saturday, October 7th| 10:30am -9:30pm each day
Where: Holy Trinity-Holy Cross
Price: The open air festival offers free admission. Outside tented seating for dining will be available. Food plates are individually priced and the Greek pastries will be pre-packaged and sold in the food lines.

Pumpkin Junction

All Aboard the Calera & Shelby Railroad for a trip to Pumpkin Junction!
After you arrive at the Junction, enjoy a variety of free family-friendly activities, games, and seasonal crafts.

Buck Creek Festival

Two day festival that includes live bands, arts, crafts and retail vendors, kids play area, beer tent, food trucks and the iconic rubber duck race. This is a family friendly event.

When: Friday, October 6th & Saturday October 7th | Friday 6pm – 10pm, Saturday 7pm
Where: Helena Amphitheatre

Alabama Butterbean Festival

Vendors, food booths, crafts tables, music, cooking contests, children’s activities, fireworks and more.

When: Friday, October 6th & Saturday October 7th | 6pm – 10pm Friday and 8am – 4pm Saturday

Grand Riverfest

Get ready for the Fall Grand RiverFest! Enjoy arts, crafts, fashion, food, face painting, balloon art, bounce houses, and more!

Party on the Porch

Party on the Porch brings together local musicians, breweries, food trucks, and local businesses for an evening you do not want to miss!

Flicks Among the Flowers

Flicks Among the Flowers is back! This free event features the 1993 movie Hocus Pocus starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy. Movie rating: PG. Gates open at 5 p.m. Come dressed for our costume contest! Bring a blanket or a low-profile lawn chair. Movie begins at sunset (around 6:30 p.m.).

Hoots and Howls

Calling all ghouls and goblins, it’s time to trick-or-treat around the Zoo at our annual Hoots & Howls events!

When: October 13th and 14th | October 21st and 22nd | October 28th and 29th
Where: The Birmingham Zoo
Price: Cost of admission (candy trail $3.95 and candy trail and ride wristband $10 additional)

Bash on the Bluff

Bring the entire family for a day of fun on the farm including live music, food trucks, inflatables, local vendors, a pumpkin patch and more!

St Symeon Food and Culture Fair

Outdoor marketplace with food and gifts, choir concert, church tours throughout the event.

When: Saturday, October 14th | 9am – 3pm

Haunt the Hills

Bring the whole family to trick-or-treat at the sponsor booths, participate in the costume contest and finish the night with a Halloween movie!
