Product Review: Milkscreen

We just found a neato little product to take the guesswork right out of enjoying a drink while breastfeeding. Milkscreen is a “test intended for use as a fast, highly sensitive, non-invasive method to identify the presence of alcohol in breast milk. A method of colorimetric visual observation is used to obtain a result for the level of alcohol concentrated in breast milk. Milkscreen requires no special training provided that instructions are followed correctly.” I tried it out and it was a piece of cake. You just take a test strip, dip it into expressed milk, shake off the excess and wait 2 minutes. Then compare the color change (if any) to the chart and voila! Oh and the best part – the folks at Milkscreen are offering a rebate on the 3 pack (I found it at BabiesRUs) – up to $5.99 – so what’s to lose!

Frustraion Free? Is that Possible?

Well, it is if you are a fan of internet shopping and Amazon.com. Just in time for the holidays Amazon.com has come up with a way to save exhausted parents the frustration of frantically searching the house on Christmas morning for box cutters, while promising an impatient child that you are working as fast as possible to cut through unnecessary layers of plastics to then be slowed down by a bazillion little wires to unwind before finally freeing the object from it’s very environmentally unfriendly home in the box.

Amazon.com is introducing what they call Frustration Free packaging. A concept where they are working directly with manufactures to eliminate clamshell packaging for simpler brown boxes that can be broken down and recycled. It’s a win-win. Saving parents a mornings worth of nagging and helping the environment all in one.

For more information and a list of items that come “Fuss Free” check out their site:
