Placing a product on layaway at any Toys”R”Us or Babies”R”Us store requires a deposit of 20% of the total purchase, including all applicable taxes, and a $10 service charge. Payments may be made at the store at any time in the form of cash, check, credit card, debit card or gift card. Merchandise will be made available within 7-10 days of final payment, so items must be paid for in full by December 6 to ensure that the gift is available for pickup before Christmas. A fee will apply to canceled layaway orders**.

I recently tried out a website service named Alice.com. Alice is a shopping site, but unlike one you’ve ever used. It stocks only household and personal products (even stamps!) at very competitive prices (you can check them with the click of a button as you shop) and will automatically alert you when it’s time to order more – again with just a simple click of a button.
When you first register with the site, you set up “ducks” – these are categories of items from which you’d like to choose your products – like floor cleaner or toothpaste. From there, you go to “your products” and choose the product you’d like. It’s then that you can read reviews of the product, compare prices and set up the amount of time it would take for your family to need the product again. Oh and did I mention that they automatically offer coupons on some of their products – no more clipping!
So, what’s the catch? Well, so far I haven’t found one. I get a shopping assistant of sorts that reminds me when it’s time to buy, the site saves me a trip to the store – or even a trip across the room to the shopping list. I get competitive pricing with free shipping. Oh and they stock a pretty good selection of items. After you’ve placed an order or two, you can even analyze your spending budget to see how much you spend in any certain category.
I received my order within two business days as promised – and in fact, my order shipped the afternoon of the day it was placed. Oh, I almost forgot, they included a bunch of free samples with my order too!
Mommadrool had a problem. Her husband (The Husby) likes to go bird hunting. But she just didn’t know what to do with his prizes. So, in Mommadrool fashion, she whipped up another crowd-pleaser and voila – here you have it, Pheasant and Forest Mushrooms.
Pheasant & Forest Mushrooms
Ingredients:
1 cup forest mushroom blend, chopped
1 cup shiitake mushrooms, chopped
2 portabello mushroom caps chopped
2 pheasant- skinned, de-boned, and cut into small chunks
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/4 cup shallots, finely chopped
3 tablespoons oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, sliced
2 teaspoons fresh basil
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup white wine
(salt and pepper to taste)
Directions:
1) Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute pheasant meat with garlic and basil until lightly browned.
2) Remove meat from pan with a slotted spoon and set aside. Add butter, shallots, and mushrooms to pan. Saute until golden brown.
3) Stir in sun-dried tomatoes and add white wine. Return pheasant to skillet and stir into mushroom mixture. Simmer for 30 minutes.
