Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival Wrap Up

We were so excited to be invited down to this years Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival.. This is one thing that has always been on my bucket list and while the weather didn’t cooperate for us to go for a ride, they were still beautiful to look at all lit up at sunset. While the Balloons of course were the main attraction, the festival was packed with all the things you hope to find, great food, vendors, and of course live music.

We had a great time exploring downtown Owa in between our time at the festival, and we got to check out all of our favorite stand by’s as well as the new Valerio’s Pizza and Italian restaurant that served up some delicious pizza and salads.

You know the amusement park is a BirminghamMommy favorite and we loved being able to see the progress on the Water Park set to open at the end of June. We can’t wait to share more about that as they get close to opening.

The dates are already set for next years festival, so make plans for early May, this is the perfect weekend trip for the whole family to enjoy!

Summer Camp Spotlight: Magic City Magic Camp

Magic City Magic Camp is going to be super special this year. It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be magical. It’s going to be filled with life-lessons that kids don’t even know they are learning.

Life lessons?

Yep… magic is about communicating well. Magic is about looking a person in the eye and really “seeing them” and “understanding their reactions”. This is an important life-skill because we live in a “screen-age” where kids are not great at person-to-person communication. Magic tricks are terrific at improving person to person communication skills for kids.

Ever seen a pick a card trick, where no one picks a card? No, you haven’t, that’s because magic is interactive. Magic is interactive by its very nature. Magic can even improve a kid’s self-esteem!

How?

Every magician will tell you that it’s a very very good feeling to show their Mom or Dad or Grandmother a magic trick and the response is, “wow… how did you do that?”

Magic City Magic Camp at The Grove School | 7545 Parkway Drive Leeds, Alabama 35094.

The dates: June 6th-10th, 2022 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.
It’s open to all 8-12 year old kids in the Birmingham area!

Kids will learn some amazing magic tricks: how to read someone’s mind, how to make ropes instantly grow, and even how to make money magically appear! There will also be fun games, silly music, laughter, learning even more cool magic tricks, exploring what it means to be a true magician, even more laughter, learning the 3 Rules of Magic, and kids will take home a TON of MAGIC (created by the award winning Discover Magic Program) in your own MAGIC BAG (retail value – $79), and even more fun!

Each MAGIC CITY MAGIC CAMP – camp counselor has been vetted and PERSONALLY TRAINED by world famous magician and PBS TV star – Steve Trash.  www.stevetrash.com.

This summer is the FIRST EVER – Magic City Magic Camp – and it’s going to be epic!
Your kid needs a little magic! Don’t miss this opportunity!
