Monster Jam world champion athletes and their 12,000-pound monster trucks tear up the dirt in wide-open competitions of speed and skill. The excitement begins at the Monster Jam Pit Party fan experience on both Saturday and Sunday. Fans can see the massive trucks up close, meet their favorite drivers and crews, get autographs, take pictures and enjoy other family-friendly activities. This fun-filled experience is the only place that allows people to get up close access to the Monster Jam teams and get an insider’s look at how these trucks are built to stand up to the competition.

Birmingham motorsports fans will be on the edge of their seats as world-class drivers show off crazy skills and all-out racing in fierce head-to-head battles for the Event Championship. Engineered to perfection, the 12,000-pound Monster Jam trucks push all limits in Freestyle, Skills and Racing competitions. The Stadium Series Red Champion will receive a highly coveted automatic bid to the prestigious Monster Jam World Finals® to compete for the title of World Champion at the 2023 Monster Jam World Finals in Nashville this summer.

The Arena Championship Series East features eight skilled athletes fighting for the championship while putting on a spectacle, constantly innovating and always entertaining. 2022 Rookie of the Year Weston Anderson in the legendary Grave Digger® looks to repeat as series champion. Armando Castro grabs the bull by the horns in El Toro Loco® Linsey Read returns to full time competition behind the wheel of Monster Mutt® Dalmatian.

The Magic of Model Trains is a holiday tradition, and McWane Science Center is excited to announce its return for the 2022 holiday season. Discover trains of every shape and size inside this awe-inspiring exhibit of locomotive displays. No detail is too small for our miniature landscapes. Be your own conductor; investigate the “I Spy,” Magic of Model Train addition; fly through the air on the McWane Zipline; and take a ride on the McWane train. Yes, you read that right. Back by popular demand, the McWane Zipline and McWane Train will return to the Magic of Model Trains exhibition for 2022.

The Magic of Model Trains will open Saturday, November 19 and will keep curious minds entertained for hours! Entrance to this exhibit is included with regular price of admission, so chug on into McWane this holiday season.

Winter Camps are a great way to keep the tiny humans busy over the holidays and if they’re into music, Mason Music is offering up some great options for kids ages 3 – 9.

Mason Music’s Winter Break Music Camp For Preschoolers is a splendid mix of wintery wonderland magic and a perfect way for your little ones to have fun exploring musical concepts in a creative environment. Each child will spend time with a Mason Music teacher in a small group going over the basics of music theory, like dynamics, tempo and pitch, while getting an introduction to singing, playing the piano and percussion instruments. There will also be time for crafts and musical movement too!

Winter Break Music Camp for Beginners

For students 6-9 years old who have little or no experience with music and may be wondering which instrument is right for them, Mason Music offers a half-day music camp during winter break that’ll allow each student to learn how to sing and play instruments like the guitar, piano, drums, violin and ukulele.

The famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses return to Birmingham this week to take part in several appearances throughout the city as well as march in our Veteran’s Day Parade.

On Nov. 10, the horses will be in Hoover with a meet and greet event called “Jingle and Mingle with the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales.” This event will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Piggly Wiggly in Bluff Park and they will be joined by Hoover mayor Frank Brocato for a special ride.

On Nov. 11, the horses will be featured in Alabama’s 75th Annual National Veterans Day Parade in Birmingham. The horses will lead off the parade beginning at 11 a.m. alongside this year’s grand marshal Larry Lebeda. The horses will also be at the parade’s after-party at the Carrigan’s Public House from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. that day.

They will make their second parade appearance at the Lakeview District Trot Parade on Nov. 12 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The horses were formally introduced to the public in 1933 to help celebrate the end of the Prohibition era for beer. They have served as a symbol for the company ever since, spanning over 75 years’ worth of appearances.
