Join us for our third Party on the Porch event of the summer to benefit Freshwater Land Trust–a nonprofit organization whose mission is the acquisition and stewardship of lands that enhance water quality and preserve open space.
We will have live music from Jason Bailey and Old Fashioned Rhythm Method, delicious food from Cantina On Wheels, and refreshing local draft beer from Cahaba Brewing, available in a $10 collectible cup (and served from our awesome YETI jockey box). We will also have corn hole boards and face painting for kids (while supplies last).

Game On Birmingham – Boutwell Auditorium
Attention all Gamers! Just in time for the summer, DYS announces GAME ON Birmingham 2015. Taking place on Friday, July 10th, this FREE event will feature classic arcade games and open play on some of today’s most popular systems including Nintendo Wii, Xbox One and Playstation 4. Beginning at 10:00 am, gamers of all ages will descend upon the Boutwell Auditorium to experience this ultimate video game haven.
GAME ON Birmingham will also take attendees on the evolution of gaming with open play on over 20 classic consoles such as the original Nintendo (NES), Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo and original Playstation.
Participation criteria:
- Operate or lead Birmingham youth in a structured enrichment program (youth service providers only)
- Must be a Birmingham youth between the ages of 8 and 18 years old. (must be accompanied by an adult)
The deadline to register is Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Organizations Spaces are limited and organizations will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots are filled.
For Organization Leaders: Up to twenty (20) tickets may be reserved per organization. In an effort to accommodate as many groups as possible, organizations may only attend for two (2) hours. Please indicate on the registration form your top two (2) time preferences.

Vulcan Park and Museum:
Vulcan is the world’s largest cast iron statue; made of 100,000 pounds of iron and 56 feet tall, he stands at the top of Red Mountain overlooking the city of Birmingham. But, Vulcan is more than a statue. Vulcan Park and Museum features spectacular views of Birmingham, an interactive history museum that examines Vulcan and Birmingham’s story, and a beautiful public park for visitors and locals to enjoy. With an official information center that is operated by the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, Vulcan Park and Museum serves as the first stop for visitors to the Birmingham area!
Railroad Park:
Railroad Park is a 19 acre green space in downtown Birmingham that celebrates the industrial and artistic heritage of our great city. Situated along 1st Avenue South, between 14th and 18th Streets, the park is a joint effort between the City of Birmingham and the Railroad Park Foundation. Hailed as “Birmingham’s Living Room,” Railroad Park provides a historically rich venue for local recreation, family activities, concerts, and cultural events, while connecting Birmingham’s downtown area with Southside and UAB’s campus.
