Spring time in Birmingham means festivals, and many of these revolve around one of our favorite things.. Food! The Gumbo Gala and the Food Truck Round up are just 2 of the many happening here this weekend.
Junior League of Birmingham will be hosting their annual Bargain Carousel, if you love yard sales, you’ll love this! The Barons are home the first half of the week and the McWane Science Center is hosting a Weatherfest!

Celebrate spring at the award-winning Gardendale Magnolia Festival with over 150 arts/crafts/business vendors including home and garden special section, large midway carnival, classic car show, 3 stages of live entertainment, pooch parade, Little Miss GMF pageant, bungy jump, fishing tank, silent auction, free art classes for kids, and cookie eating contest. You’ll find restaurant quality food as well as festival favorites at our food court including Greek gyros, fried catfish, fried oreos, boiled peanuts, BBQ ribs/smoked sausage, teriyaki chicken on a stick, roasted corn, kettle corn, Italian ice, etc.

Saturday April 26th:
Episcopal Place Gumbo Gala – Sloss Furnaces
40 gumbo cook teams will cook and serve gumbo and compete for 14 events in Professional and Back Yard Cooks categories. Up to 2,500 people are expected to enjoy the Gulf Coast vibe around the spray pond at Sloss Furnaces as they sample gumbo, listen to live music by Rollin’ in the Hay, browse through arts, crafts and food booths, and enjoy family and children’s entertainment. Gumbo judges will include local and regional chefs and food experts.

Third Annual Food Truck Round Up – Colonial Brookwood Village
Appetites from around the area are about to be treated to a food fest like none other, all for the sake of charity. The Third Annual Protective Life Food Truck Roundup, benefitting PreSchool Partners is set to serve up some of Birmingham’s best cuisine in the upper parking lot of Macy’s at Colonial Brookwood Village.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and are available online at www.preschool-partners.org. Admission gets you four tokens redeemable for food at any of the trucks and at beverage stations. Coca-cola products will be served FREE. Additional tokens will be available for purchase; kids 10 and under get in free.

Earth Day at the Gardens – Birmingham Botanical Gardens
Growing Community Roots will continue The Gardens’ 50th anniversary celebration.
Alabama’s longest continuously-running Earth Day event, Earth Day at The Gardens, is slated for Saturday, April 26. Over 40 earth-friendly exhibitors will have booths displaying family friendly activities and information. Dozens of local and regional organizations focused on issues such as conservation, energy efficiency and clean air will fill the Formal Garden, the lawn in front of the Conservatory, with fun-filled, family-focused activities.

Vulcan Park and Museum:
Vulcan is the world’s largest cast iron statue; made of 100,000 pounds of iron and 56 feet tall, he stands at the top of Red Mountain overlooking the city of Birmingham. But, Vulcan is more than a statue. Vulcan Park and Museum features spectacular views of Birmingham, an interactive history museum that examines Vulcan and Birmingham’s story, and a beautiful public park for visitors and locals to enjoy. Railroad Park:
Railroad Park is a 19 acre green space in downtown Birmingham that celebrates the industrial and artistic heritage of our great city.
