We were so excited to stop by the McWane Science Center today for the ground breaking ceremony for the new Children’s Museum set to be completed in about 1 year.
The launching of the construction phase is the largest capital project since its founding 15 years ago. The Children’s Museum is made possible through a public/ private partnership between McWane Science Center and the city of Birmingham along with various donors.
The children’s museum at McWane Science Center will serve their youngest visitors in a brand new 10,000 square foot area allowing children to learn in a fun and playful environment. The new children’s museum space will encourage young children’s love of learning and combine it with the power of play. It will be a dedicated space for children newborn to kindergarten and will be a regional resource for parents as well as teachers.
“We have been anticipating this project for some time now, and are so excited it is finally on Go,” said McWane Science Center CEO Amy Templeton. “I hope our visitors are as excited to see the construction begin as we are.”
We absolutely love our McWane Center and are so incredibly happy to see this project moving forward. The designs look amazing and we know it’s going to be a great addition to McWane and Birmingham as a whole!
