- Get educated- learn what you need to know about your breast cancer: the type, stage, and hormone receptor status. The more you know, the more confident you will feel in making decisions.
- Speak with survivors- No one will understand you better than someone who went through it as well. The American Cancer Society can help you find a support group. Consider asking your doctor or local hospital about their resources as well.
- Have a go-to person for talking- everyone needs that person who will listen. It can be a spouse, friend, mom, or trusted counselor.
- Take care of yourself- Make your well-being a priority. Sleep may be hard, but try to get some. Eat a healthy diet, exercise, and try to find time to do the things you enjoy.
- Keep your family and friends close- When they hear the news, you’ll get offers to help. It’s okay to take them.
