Summer Day Camp Options in Birmingham

 

It’s been a wild and crazy ride the past few months and it’s left lots of local Moms wondering about child care options and camps, here is what we know is happening, many of these have adjusted their offerings and spots are very limited.

Aldridge Gardens

June will be a full month long of excitement, entertainment and, of course, education at Aldridge Gardens. Whether your little campers like American Girls, art, music, cooking or building and engineering We have something they’re sure to enjoy!

Acting Out Academy

Movie Camps are on with some changes!
1) We are keeping casts smaller and will hold them at separate locations.
2) We will film mostly outside or in front of our NEW giant green screen in our large space while keeping kids safely apart.
3) VIRTUAL SCREENING: We will film the kids walking the red carpet during camp and edit together to play before a virtual screening campers will have Friday night safely in their homes with their families via zoom.
4) IN PERSON screening will happen at a movie theater when we can safety have it in the future!
*NOTE we will not be able to take as many campers so if you are thinking of signing up, don’t wait!

Summer theatre intensive designed to give children the opportunity to explore all aspects of working in live theatre. Aciting, singing, dancing, stage makeup, improv, stage-combat and more.

Once Upon a Fairytale | entering 5K (revised dates/times/fees)

Dance, create art, and explore the day’s fairytale. Fairytales include Sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood, Twelve Dancing Princesses, Thumbelina, and Jack and the Beanstalk. Dancers will not dress in costumes each day as in the past.

Once Upon a Ballet | entering 1st – 3rd graders (revised date/time/fee)

The perfect camp for your budding ballerina! Campers will discover the familiar folktales of ballet and learn classical dance steps and gestures of famous characters. Make costume pieces, explore the use of props, and dance along with the traditional music of Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and others!

Adventures in Enchanted Lands | entering 1st – 3rd graders (revised date/time/fee)

Visit a world limited only by your imagination! Create your own mermaid story, search for dragon’s eggs, and design your own fairy wings. Each day is an adventure with magical creatures and enchanted activities. Campers explore each day’s theme through dance, art and drama classes.

Dance Exploration | entering 3rd – 6th graders (revised date/time/fee)

Explore the art of dance through technique in a variety of styles, including Modern Dance, Musical Theatre, Improvisation, Hip Hop and others, as well as lessons in dance history, anatomy, and music.  Experience in dance is recommended.

August 3-7 | 9:00am-12:00pm | $120

Dance Workshop | entering 6th – 12th (revised date/time/fee)

Join us for intensive Ballet and Modern technique classes. Conditioning and dance composition basics will be included. Prior dance training is required. Students will be divided into two groups by ability.

Hands-on field biology along with science experiments. Outdoor lessons in nature. Learning so much fun, they will never know it! Live animal shows, exploring in creek beds, exploring the woods, under rocks and digging for decomposers, and Roly Poly races.
