Partners in Kids Health: Holiday Hazards

The holiday season is here, and while it can be a fun time for families, there are some things that parents need to consider.

Jessica Pescatore, the clinical director of the Alabama Poison Information Center (APIC), says families should watch for hidden dangers, which can range from holiday décor to holiday cleanup.

“These are the things that keep the holidays festive and magical, and there’s a lot that we can talk about,” said Pescatore.

Listen as she describes the items that prompted more calls to the APIC during the holiday season and how parents can keep their children safe.

Always remember: the APIC offers free, confidential poison information and treatment recommendations to the public and healthcare providers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call the hotline at 1-800-222-1222 for poison advice for all ages.
