Mary Poppins The Ballet Brings Holiday Magic to Birmingham

This holiday season, families can step into a world of chimney sweeps, dancing penguins, and magical adventures as Mary Poppins The Ballet takes the stage.

Performance Details:

When: Saturday, November 22 | 2 PM & 6 PM
Where: Alabama School of Fine Arts’ Dorothy Jamison Theater, 800 19th St N, Birmingham, AL 35203
Runtime: 90 minutes
Participants: 40 dancers, ages 4–17, from Briarwood, John Carroll, Spain Park, and Oak Mountain

Choreographer Jaclyn Shiflett shares:

“Translating such an iconic story into movement challenged us to find new ways to express wonder, playfulness, and heart through dance. Every step, leap, and turn carries the spirit of imagination that makes Mary Poppins so lovable.”

The production features hand-crafted props and set pieces and showcases the dedication and creativity of 40 young dancers bringing the story to life.

“This show is special because it combines storytelling, humor, and heart. Dancing Mary Poppins challenges us technically and emotionally and brings so much joy to the audience,” says 16-year-old Sophie Stuart, who plays Mary Poppins.
