October Support Meeting: Accreta Awareness & Prevention
Tuesday, October 2, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - Saturday, October 20, 2018 @ 9:00 pm
FreeJoin us for our October support meeting as we participate in Accreta Awareness Month. Placenta accreta is a serious condition in which the placenta attaches too deeply into the wall of the uterus, resulting in complications. The greatest risk factor for accreta is a previous uterine scar, and the risk for developing placenta accreta increases with each subsequent repeat C-section.
For the educational portion of our meeting, we will present a general overview of this high-risk condition, as well as the reasons behind its increasing prevalence.
We are also very honored to have Melany Rogers as a guest speaker for this meeting! Melany is a local mom of three and will be sharing her incredible story of survival after a diagnosis of placenta accreta + placenta previa with her third child. Melany uses her own story to spread awareness about placenta accreta and to promote blood donation in our community. Please come listen to her story- it’s so important to hear!
We will also designate a time for birth story sharing and additional support. Partners, support people, and kids welcome. Due to the somewhat serious nature of this month’s meeting topic, however, we ask that you use your own discretion as a parent in whether or not you want your child to attend this particular meeting.
Our monthly support meetings are always free. For more information about our ICAN chapter, please check out our Facebook page.
