DESCRIPTION:Did you know that mothers who have continuous labor support from a doula are less likely to end up with a cesarean? According to ACOG and the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine: “one of the most effective tools to improve labor and delivery outcomes is the continuous presence of support personnel\, such as a doula.” Many families who have a doula present for their cesarean are also able to have a more satisfying birth experience thanks to doula support. \nJoin us for our May meeting as we kick off International Doula Month with a casual\, no-pressure meet-and-greet with our WONDERFUL community of local labor and postpartum doulas!! \nPARENTS: Get a better feel for the different personalities and philosophies of the doulas in our area. Talk pricing\, availability\, previous experience\, special needs and requests\, etc. No need to commit. Just know your options! \nOBGYNS\, MIDWIVES\, NURSES\, & OTHER HOSPITAL STAFF: Meet and chat with some of the doulas that frequent the halls of your facilities! A healthy\, working relationship between the doula community and hospital staff is beneficial for all. \nNOT CURRENTLY PREGNANT? No worries! You won’t be the only one. 🙂 Come hang out with us and chat about all things pregnancy\, birth\, and postpartum! \nPartners\, support people\, and kids welcome.
