One of my favorite things to do each Valentines day is help to my kids make Valentines for Children’s hospital. We’ve been doing it since my art obsessed 4 year old was old enough to hold a crayon. A lot of libraries will accept homemade cards or will have a place set up in the children’s department for you to come in and make the cards.. Here’s a list of locations participating this year.
Hoover Public Library
Children are invited to bring homemade and store-bought valentines to the Hoover Public Library to receive a holiday prize.
The Library is collecting homemade and store-bought valentines (NO CANDY) for the patients at Children’s Hospital. Bring signed valentines to the preschool desk and receive a holiday prize.

I didn’t know about this.. Looks like my 4 year old and I have a great project!!! Thanks!
Yes Anne! I think my 4 will really get it this year that we’re giving them out to others and it will make them happy. Prior to this year, she’s just had fun making them. So glad you’re joining the fun!
Thanks for posting – just shared with our dayschool. What a great project for a great cause. It seems like every holiday has become “gimme, gimme.” A great reminder to give back. If you’ve ever gone through the doors of Children’s (and if you have children in Birmingham, you probably have or will at some point), you know what a special place it is.
Thanks for sharing. I did not know about this.
