This month we are focusing our giving attention on PADS (Parent Advocates – Down Syndrome)
Down Syndrome Alabama seeks not only to advocate for the needs of individuals with Down syndrome, but to offer support, acceptance and encouragement for parents and families of persons with Down syndrome.
They also strive to increase awareness and knowledge of issues relating to Down syndrome and to educate the community about the presence and needs of people with Down syndrome in order to create inclusive environments for all persons.
In addition to all of the support they offer to families, PADS also helped establish the Down Syndrome Clinic at The Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. They provide parent volunteers for the Clinic, maintain the Clinic’s parent library, and help allocate Clinic resources.
They routinely organize educational conferences and workshops with national and local experts and helped establish the Adult Down Syndrome Clinic at UAB. The Clinic offers comprehensive care, primary care and specialty care for adults with Down syndrome.
BirminghamMommy.com is proud to be a part of MOMS Market Springpalooza coming up on April 3rd where a portion of proceeds from booth sales as well as profits from t-shirt sales and raffle money will go to support this cause.
So come out and shop with us, say hi and have the chance to win some great prizes!
