SUMMARY:October Support Meeting: Accreta Awareness & Prevention
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our October support meeting as we participate in Accreta Awareness Month. Placenta accreta is a serious condition in which the placenta attaches too deeply into the wall of the uterus\, resulting in complications. The greatest risk factor for accreta is a previous uterine scar\, and the risk for developing placenta accreta increases with each subsequent repeat C-section. \nFor the educational portion of our meeting\, we will present a general overview of this high-risk condition\, as well as the reasons behind its increasing prevalence. \nWe are also very honored to have Melany Rogers as a guest speaker for this meeting! Melany is a local mom of three and will be sharing her incredible story of survival after a diagnosis of placenta accreta + placenta previa with her third child. Melany uses her own story to spread awareness about placenta accreta and to promote blood donation in our community. Please come listen to her story- it’s so important to hear! \nWe will also designate a time for birth story sharing and additional support. Partners\, support people\, and kids welcome. Due to the somewhat serious nature of this month’s meeting topic\, however\, we ask that you use your own discretion as a parent in whether or not you want your child to attend this particular meeting. \nOur monthly support meetings are always free. DESCRIPTION:For Immediate Release\nOak Mountain Elementary School PTO\nAmy Bryan Baggett\n205-799-3880\nomespr@gmail.com \nOAK MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HOSTS 10TH ANNUAL FALL FUN FEST\nSchool fundraiser celebrates best of autumn fun\, while helping to fund educational improvements. \nThe Oak Mountain Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Organization is hosting its 2018 Fall Fun Fest event on Saturday\, October 20\, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Cost is $13 for pre-paid wristbands; $15 at the door. Adults & kids 2 and under are free. \nThe annual fundraiser will be held on the school grounds and will offer family-friendly entertainment\, food\, activities\, and crafts. \nAttendees can enjoy inflatable structures\, seasonal crafts\, face painting\, and other fun activities such as cake\, candy\, and soda walks. Guests can also check out a pumpkin patch and a hay ride. The event will feature performances by the Blue Bird Choir and the OMES Cheer Squad. \nA variety of treats will be available for purchase including Marco’s Pizza and a $7 Chick-Fil-A lunch combo. Pandy’s Food Truck will feature funnel cakes and fried Oreos. Steel City Pops and Kona Ice will be on hand for tasty frozen treats. Local vendors will be on site selling crafts and other items. \nThe event will feature college football games on large screen TVs thanks to Direct TV\, so that fans won’t have to miss out on watching game day events. \nAs the school’s largest annual fundraiser\, the Fall Fun Festival includes a silent auction\, with the ability to view auction items online and make advance bidding. \nAll proceeds from the fall fun fest are dedicated to the benefit of the students. It will go towards education\, events and improvements at OMES.
