When you said “I Do” did you also breathe a sigh of relief that the door to the dating world was finally closing, hopefully locking up tight forever? We’re you happy to say “No More” to the awkward first dates, horrible blind set ups, and the anxious interpretation of the non call, the late call, or debating on whether or not you should make the first move? I think we all did a happy dance when we realized those days were behind us..
Only, they weren’t.
Fast forward to having your first child and having no friends with kids, or being new to an area and knowing no one. It’s like dating all over again. You stake out local libraries and storytimes, hoping to catch the eye of another frazzled Mom or if you’re lucky the polished mom with the clean kids that might actually take you under her wing.. You might actually find yourself stalking a lady through Babies R Us because she has a single and twins that are exactly the same age as your single and twins, you might spend 20 minutes trying to figure out how to introduce yourself to this lady without looking like a total weirdo… you might (not that I would have ever done anything like this myself… really!) but you might. Motherhood and loneliness will make you do some crazy things and that’s why we have decided to set up a time for you to get out of the house and meet some other Birmingham Mommies!
