Birmingham Area Spring Break Camps: 2012

If you’re planning to be around Birmingham for spring break this year, you have lots of options for keeping the kiddos busy for the week!

Here is a list of spring break camps happening at some of our favorite places!

McWane Science Center –

Camps Include:

  • 1st rate hands on educational programming
  • ½ day or all day options
  • Mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks
  • Lunch
  • Before Care for morning sessions 8:00am – 9:00am*
  • After Care for afternoon sessions 5:00pm – 5:30pm (only for afternoon camps)*

*Late pick-ups will be charged a fee of $5 for every five minutesyou camper(s) stays after pick up time.  Pick up required by 1:30 for morning camps and 5:30 for afternoon camps

Wee Flip –

In camp we will have snack (provided) but bring your own lunch!  There will be lots of gym time to practice your gymnastic skills, fun games and arts & crafts!  Dress comfortably and come flip with us!

Come clown around with us!

Wednesday, March 23 – Princess & Pirate Day
Dress as your favorite Princess or Pirate and come walk the plank!

Thursday, March 24 – Beach Blanket Bingo
Tumble in for fun in the sun!

Tuition: $120 (all 3 days)
Daily Rate: $45
(Your reservation is held with payment in full)
20% Family Discount: 20% Family Discount applies only for siblings attending camp simultaneously (no discount for different camp days).
Registration Fee is NOT required for day camps.

Birmingham Zoo –

Full-day camps are available for 4K through 5th grade students!
While attending School Break Camps, campers can experience:

  • Train and/or Carousel Ride (as weather permits)
  • Crafts and Activities
  • Behind-the-Scenes Tours
  • Mid-morning and Mid-afternoon Snacks
  • Live Animal Demonstrations
  • Animal Artifacts (Biofacts)

Camp is 8:30am to 4:00pm.

Villager Yoga

Spring Break Mini Camps
yoga camps allow kids to find their inner and outer strength, while being creative and expressing themselves. Group exercises and games teach considerate peer interaction and leadership skills in a non-competitive environment. Children will find a calm mind and body and learn self-soothing techniques through mindfulness activities and relaxation. Yoga poses will be introduced around a theme and camp will include the thoughtful preparation of a healthy snack, group game time, a creative art project and mindful breathing and visualization exercises.

Ruffner Mountain Nature Center – 

Every day will be filled with activities, art projects, games, and outdoor adventure. K – 5th grade.

Each day of camp is from 9 AM – 3 PM.
$40/day (non-member) $30/day (member).
Extended care is available from 7:30 AM – 9 AM ($5/day) and 3 PM – 5:30 PM ($5/day)

Sign your child up for one day or multiple days. All camps include two snacks. A 10% discount will be given if you sign up before March 1!  Take advantage of our early sign-up discount!  Reserve your spot(s) here.  After reserving your spot(s), please fill out a registration packet and fax, email, mail in, or bring with you on the first day of camp.  After you have reserved your place, you will receive an email confirmation and more details.

Heathermoor Farms

March 19-23. All sessions 8am-3pm

Cost: $350 per week. A $25 discount is offered for each additional child from the same household that is attending the
same week.
What to Bring:
• packed lunch
• hard-soled shoes (paddock boots recommended, but tennis shoes are acceptable)
• helmet (optional)

Other Information:

• Several local tack shops offer camp specials on boots, riding pants, and helmets. (Carousel Tack: 205- 991-0007 or AL Blue Ribbon Tack: 205-444-0240)
• Please wear long pants for all horse activities.
• In order to reserve your spot, mail application and a $75 deposit to: 2484 Eastern Valley Road Leeds, AL 35094
• Space is limited to 12 campers per session.

Birmingham Children’s Theater –

During the Spring Break Intensive, your child will be immersed in theatre for one-week of learning with BCT’s team of experienced professionals and instructors. With a focus on acting, dancing and puppetry, the Spring Break Intensive provides a well-rounded curriculum and builds upon the skills taught during the Fall Workshops Series. Maximum 16 students per class. No audition required.

Meets: Monday-Friday, March 19-23, 2012, in BCT’s BJCC performance spaces.
