All the classic comic book sounds/action words or Scooby Doo verbiage like—“Zoiks!, Kapow!, Jinkies!” and just plain terror ran through my mind as a baseball cleared the safety netting at the opening night of the Birmingham Barons game. As the ball swiftly made its way towards my head I thought, “Is this how my baby’s going to be delivered?”
But wait, let’s rewind video montage style so we can give this pregnancy its due diligence in documenting the adventures my handsome hubby Pete and our soon to arrive bundle of joy…Alexander Gray have been on.
Let’s time travel back nine months ago when I was sexy walking my way to better health (or so I thought) with my Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Power Squad Bod- Calorie Blasting Dance workout DVD. I thought I was “Candy Bumpin’” my way to a cute tooshie and finally after umpteen years getting some semblance of a toned tummy back, but little did I know I was finally about to land a title I had always wanted…Mom!
Looking forward to my at home weigh in, I made my way to the scales only to discover I had gained 5 lbs.! What the…
Also, my favorite (I say that as sarcastically as possible) monthly visitor hadn’t arrived. To add to the 1-2-3 punch, Mr. Pritchard wanted to go out for sushi. I thought to myself, hmmmm…I better check this out.
Conducting my own little chemistry experiment and waiting the allotted three minutes I saw a bright pink +. I passed the test! Oh wait…that means baby on board!
Excited but doubting my $1 home pregnancy test, I jumped in my Alien Green Kia Soul (yep the exact one with the hamsters driving it in the commercials) and bought three more. To my delight and bewilderment they were all positive!
As we get to know one another through America’s Next Top Mom we’ll be on a loopty loop whirlwind as I tell you about my mishaps, mayhem and the magic experienced as I enter the Mommywood striving to become one of the many mommies who wants to be on top.
